The story unfolded in an unlikely, though plausible, way. I enjoyed reading this simple tale of romance in unexpected places. This is a light, quick read. Aug 19, Victoria Sigsworth rated it really liked it.

Having read one of Reanne's Cold Creek books having discovered they are set in a certain area of America etc and really enjoying it, I decided I should read more of hers. Usually Mills and Boon are not my thing and obviously, they are written in a certain way to a certain formula.

However she has also written some non- M and B's too.

This one is not quite as good as the first one I read. That had a lovely cosy feel to it but this one doesn't disappoint either. A Cold Creek Secret (Cowboys of Cold Creek, #7) by RaeAnne Thayne

If the reader reads it knowing that it is formula stuff, they won't be disappointed. I have to say that the book is written well and flows very well and the reader is straight into the story and , although, there are times when it is predictable, there are also times when it isn't and , for me, that certainly helps to keep the reader wanting more. However, you do find you want certain things to happen and that's the way it should be.

The story, again, is really more about discovering the real person and who they are and doesn't involve any raunchy business and that's why i like it. It is so much more honest and real as a story that way. I look forward to reading more of her books. Feb 05, Rachel rated it liked it Shelves: I received this book as a free gift from Harlequin, but I liked the cover, so it did not take me long to get around to reading it.

Normally, I find Harlequin romances formulaic in format and rather predictable. This book was a bit better than most, maybe because this is the second book that I have read by RaeAnne Thayne. The two characters were in many ways complete opposites, but they still complemented each other. It was hugely ironic that Mimi became homemaker to Brant's place -- nesting syndrome was kicking in early. I also did not expect the period of separation, though it fit with Brant's military duties.

This book was a sweet, quick read that made me smile. Mar 15, Jane rated it it was amazing. A story of a wealthy daughter who always was having her pictures in tabloid and a Major Brant Weston. They meet because Mimi slides off road in a snow storm trying to get to her stepmother's. She needs someone place to hid out and be away for awhile and figure her life out. Her stepmother is not there. Brant discover the real Mimi and the one the tabloids make her out to be are not the same.

Sometimes we forget we are all people with real feelings whether we have a lot of money or not. Love knows no bounds. It does not consider the bank account or where the two people stand in life. It crosses over boundaries. A story of discovering love admist mistakes and fate bringing two people together. Both helping each other.

It was an entertaining read in the first half but was slowly turning into one of those predictable stories however, later when Mimi returned at his ranch- it seriously took me by surprise even though I was wondering how on earth they were going to meet again, the whole time!! Their kissing sequences were rather hot and Brant's feelings for her Clean and cute. Their kissing sequences were rather hot and Brant's feelings for her was displayed through Thayne's work quite perfectly. Conclusion; it was a nice little read, anyone who is a sucker for Romance should definitely try it and anyone, like me!

Jan 08, Robin rated it liked it. I received this book free from the Tell Harlequin reader panel. It was okay, no major issues for something in this genre. It is a very innocent romance, kissing only. The story follows the general formula for these lines. If you've read one, well I had trouble liking the heroine, because she is a Hollywood socialite. Even though she is sweet and kind, I pictured a certain real life celebrity who gets too much press coverage and is annoying.

My only other dislike is there are too many o I received this book free from the Tell Harlequin reader panel.

My only other dislike is there are too many other characters mentioned who are not actually in the book. I realize this is one of a series, and the author wants us to read those books too, but I feel like if I read the other books, I'll get another list of names from more books. Take a cowboy and mash him with a military officer and you get Major Brant Western.

Thayne humanized Mimi such that I rooted more for her and wanted more than anything for she and Brant to unite. The ending felt a bit rushed to me, although it transpires some months after all seems lost. But how quickly the characters forgave and forgot, and the fact that some of the most i Take a cowboy and mash him with a military officer and you get Major Brant Western.

But how quickly the characters forgave and forgot, and the fact that some of the most interesting characters, like Mimi's father and two of Brant's foster siblings, was a bit disappointing. I honestly thought it was horrid. I had to result to MST3K'ing it to get through it.. One problem I thought it didn't have enough from the male lead's perspective. There was a huge gap in the thought process from her walking away to him walking in on her in his house on his return. It was like a longer book had severely gotten parts chopped away. You can read several of my snarky comments of individual parts at my Kindle page. Oct 09, Tima rated it liked it. Mimi is running away from the paparazzi and becomes stranded during a snow storm.

Brant rescues her and recognizes her immediately. But since she's using a different name he decides to play along. He thinks he can never be with someone so high-maintenance and she is sure that she'll never get her dream of living a quiet and peaceful life. This book is a typical romance. It is going end with the couple together. So if you are looking for a sweet romantic story with a bit of drama in the middle tha Mimi is running away from the paparazzi and becomes stranded during a snow storm.

Fler böcker av Raeanne Thayne

Loved Brants character, very strong, honorable, and compassionate. I could feel the depth of his feelings for Mimi throughout the book, and actually felt sorry for him, because I did not feel hers until the end. The part that bothered me the most was his telling her of his feelings, and then her closing the door on him in such a hurtful way , and letting him go back to Afghanistan for 5 months suf Didn't really care for this story until the happy ending, which for me was too little, too late.

The part that bothered me the most was his telling her of his feelings, and then her closing the door on him in such a hurtful way , and letting him go back to Afghanistan for 5 months suffering with that, without even a letter..
