Industrial Combustion Pollution and Control (Environmental Science & Pollution)

Welcome to the Journal

Humans pollute water with large scale disposal of garbage, flowers, ashes and other household waste. Water pollution can also indirectly occur as an offshoot of soil pollution — through surface runoff and leaching to groundwater. Air pollution is cause by the injurious smoke emitted by cars, buses, trucks, trains, and factories, namely sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides. Even smoke from burning leaves and cigarettes are harmful to the environment causing a lot of damage to man and the atmosphere.

Evidence of increasing air pollution is seen in lung cancer, asthma, allergies, and various breathing problems along with severe and irreparable damage to flora and fauna. Soil pollution, which can also be called soil contamination, is a result of acid rain, polluted water, fertilizers etc.

Soil contamination occurs when chemicals are released by spill or underground storage tank leakage which releases heavy contaminants into the soil. These may include hydrocarbons, heavy metals, MTBE, herbicides, pesticides and chlorinated hydrocarbons.

Global Warming is the increase of Earth's average surface temperature due to effect of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels or from deforestation, which trap heat that would otherwise escape from Earth. The most significant greenhouse gas is actually water vapor. However, even slight increases in atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide can cause a substantial increase in temperature. Environmental protection is a practice of protecting the natural environment on individual, organizational or governmental levels, for the benefit of both the natural environment and humans.

The science of smog - Kim Preshoff

Due to the pressures of excessive population and eminent technology, the biophysical environment is being degraded. For environmental protection to become a reality, it is important for societies to develop each of these areas that, together, will inform and drive environmental decisions. Reclaimed water or recycled water, is former wastewater that is treated to remove solids and impurities, and used in sustainable landscaping irrigation, to recharge groundwater aquifers, to meet commercial and industrial water needs, and for drinking.

Industrial Combustion Pollution and Control

The purpose of these processes is sustainability and water conservation, rather than discharging the treated water to surface waters such as rivers and oceans. Occupational safety and health is an area concerned with the safety, health and welfare of people engaged in work. The goals of occupational safety and health programs include to promote a safe and healthy work environment.

OSH may also protect co-workers, family members, employers, customers, and many others who might be affected by the workplace environment. Climatic change is a change in the statistical dispersion of weather patterns when that change lasts for an extended period of time.

It is caused by factors such as biotic processes, variations in solar radiation received by Earth, plate tectonics, and volcanic eruptions. Climate change may refer to a change in average weather conditions, or in the time variation of weather around longer-term average condition. Environmental law regimes address environmental pollution. A related but distinct set of regulatory regimes, it is strongly influenced by environmental legal principles, focus on the management of specific natural resources, such as forests, minerals, or fisheries.

Other areas, such as environmental impact assessment, may not fit neatly into either category, but are nonetheless important components of environmental law.

Thermal pollution is the increase or decrease in the temperature of a natural body of water caused by human actions. Add to Wish List.
