Will the spirit of the season find love growing on the ranch or will evil overshadow the joy of the season?
As much suspense as romance, as well as a tale of hideous pasts that have damaged two wonderful people, Rocky Mountain Miracle by Christine Feehan has combined the magic of the season with a chilling tale of abuse and treachery. Feehan has created a tale that will pull at your heart as you are balanced on the edge of your seat as the tension and mystery grows.

Next thing you know they are snowed in and Maia is now the welcome guest at his ranch indefinitely. This was a pretty quick, decent read. Her healing ways with animals transfers to this young man, making his life just a bit easier for him. Cole was super protective of his young brother which was very endearing. He faced his own nightmares so that he could attempt to give his brother a slice of normalcy, not many are willing to do that.
They are all caught on a ranch in the middle of winter during a storm when the bullets start flying. This is a story that is made by Jase and Maia. Cole is basically your misunderstood, broody, and very rich hunk hiding a very wounded "golden heart". Maia, on the other hand, is a woman with a wonderful gift.
The ability to communicate with animals. Young Jase, is also a very empathic character in hi own right. On to the story The story starts off a little rough. There is a bit of "me Tarzan But not to worry. Nefarious happenings at t This is a story that is made by Jase and Maia. Nefarious happenings at the farm involving Jase's favorite horse, soon divert attentions away from Cole's borderline stalking and back to the drama at hand. Things really start to pick up plot-wise when Maia finds herself snowed in at the ranch, and as such, a front row spectator to the behind the scenes pain of the Steele brothers.
More is revealed to her by Jase's beloved horse and hearts both Maia's and those of readers melt There is also a mystery afoot concerning the horse's injuries and other strange and dangerous happenings around the ranch. This is a wonderful story that blooms before readers' eyes. The characters are well rounded and they develop and grow more detailed as the story progresses. The thing that makes the story however, are the unexpected twists in the plot. This is a wonderful Christmas read that is sure to warm your heart.
Oct 14, Lisa rated it did not like it Shelves: I've been curious about this author's work for a long time now and having finally decided to give her work a chance I went into it with somewhat high expectations. Let's just say that I gave this book a chance but it was not for me, sadly. I didn't like the characters at all, I really hoped they would do something to make me like them but they did not. It also seemed very over the top and dramatic in terms of the plot and the direction the story was headed in, in my opinion. Also, at the point at which I stopped reading I felt as if the story had made no major developments and the plot line was stilted.
It had dragged on for more than half the book and still I held on. But I still gave it my best as the writing wasn't too bad. As for whether I'd pick up another book by this author? Well, I think I'll be putting her stuff on hold for awhile. An advance reading copy was provided by the publisher. Nov 26, Ansu rated it liked it. The story was enjoyable and it certainly does capture your attention. All the characters in the book are enjoyable, but it does feel as if something was missing in the story.
I would have liked a little bit more suspense to this story involving the activities with Fred and more drama and maybe more secondary character I first read this story in The Shadows of Christmas Past Christmas Series, 3 Primes 2. I would have liked a little bit more suspense to this story involving the activities with Fred and more drama and maybe more secondary characters.
I know they where isolated due to the storm and the location of the farm but we didn't get to "meet"Al or his wife or any of the ranch hands. A little more substance to this story and it would have rated higher. Other than this , this was a good, easy, enjoyable book. I didn't think the romance was the highlight to this book. Instead it was the relationship of two broken brothers, Cole and Jace, who really needed to learn to trust each other, to learn what family means.
In the beginning you could tell that both yearned to trust the other, that maybe, just maybe there would finally be someone on their side. It wasn't smooth sailing for them and honestly Maia seemed to help things along, knowing what each brother needed. I loved Maia's affinity for animals and I didn't think the romance was the highlight to this book. I loved Maia's affinity for animals and how she cultivated that in Jace. He needed to have something like that in his life. While I did enjoy the romance between Maia and Cole it was just ok.
I did love the epilogue, loved the fast forward a few years to see where everyone was. Oct 16, Jenifer Kleine rated it liked it Shelves: It was a really fast read. I was sorta thinking it was a novella at first with the way i was blasting through it.
It did touch on some child abuse, so if your a little sensitive this might not be for you. I did enjoy the pet psychic thing about Maia, it was kind of a cool little add in. I was sort of worried it was going to end on a cliffy at first, but then it sorted itself out.
All in all Cute story. All in all a nice story Again we have the tormented man who is saved by the empathetic vet woman, but the story is well written, the brother is a great character and the plot, as far as possible, is congruent. Not the best Feehan's book, but a proper Christmas story. Non la migliore Feehan, ma un adeguato racconto natalizio. But it looks like someone isn't done trying to hurt them, as multiple accidents keep happening around the ranch, including an injured horse.
Sent to a special clinic in the mountains after a life-threatening asthma attack, year-old Amelie hears a legend about an old tradition said to possess magical. Scenic alpine sights provide a stunning backdrop for this spirited and acclaimed coming-of-age adventure about a young girl's determination to overcome.
This brings Maia, a psychic veterinarian and the woman whom Cole has been obsessed with for the past week. She gets snowed in on the ranch and Maia's open and accepting attitude begin the healing process with Cold and Jase. She helps them reclaim the house and reclaim Christmas. The longer she's with them, the more certain Cole is that he cannot let her go. I found this really enjoyable. It's by no means perfect - you've got Maia who is a bit too perfect she knows exactly what to say in each situation and everything she says and does make everybody happy It was like guessing the correct character, weapon and location in Clue without even starting the game.
The suspense was okay, but it paled in comparison to the romance and family aspect of this story. That's where the strength is. Maia is able to get Cole and Jase to open up and to begin connecting as a family. She and Cole have a spectacularly enjoyable relationship - I loved reading about it. They grow closer as friends, the chemistry sparks and they become lovers and it all settles into deep love as Cole knows he doesn't want to live without her.
And her complete acceptance of the things he needs to do to deal with his demons was awesome. She was a strong heroine who was able to let Cole go without making him feel guilty for what he needed to do. It just all around made me feel good. Dec 19, Corrie rated it did not like it.
I love Christine Feehan. I've read quite a few of her books, but this was a disaster. It felt like it was written in a rush and things were repeated often. The little brother confesses to thinking Cole was the one causing trouble around the ranch and trying to kill him. Why are you making this confession again!?
We already know you thought that! And it wasn't just his confession, Maia did it a few times too. Admitting things about her gift she had already admitted. Just complete I love Christine Feehan. Just complete inconsistency throughout the entire book. Weird sentences that should have been caught by an editor. And dear lord the information dumps! Maia is a vet and every time she talked about an animal it was like reading the Wikipedia page on said animal.
Just projectile vomiting facts about animals. You're knowledgeable about animals. And now I know that mountain lions veins are sometimes hard to find, but that's okay! Because they can absorb the fluids under their skin! If you ever find a dehydrated mountain lion you can just shoot the fluids under the skin!
The more you know! I just don't care that much! And then she would walk you through the medical procedure too!!! I now know all the drugs I need and techniques I should use for horse and exotic cat injuries, heck, I should just go take my vet exam now and I'm sure I would pass! The plot was poorly constructed, none of it felt like it had been planned out.
It felt like she just decided halfway through the book OH! He should work for the DEA! And let's give this character asthma all of a sudden for no damn reason! It's just a disaster! How did this even happen!? It's a miracle I didn't throw my phone while reading this shit. Sep 08, L M rated it it was amazing.
What a good, enjoyable and emotional book to cuddle up with on a wet afternoon. Though Christmas themed, this really has quite a few dark aspects but to me this just added to the fact that Christmas became a time of joy for these two brothers, due to Maia and her amazing influence and ability. Loved the characters and my heart bleed for both Cole and Jase.
The fact they could even learn to enjoy life again was a miracle, after what their biological sperm donor had done. I cannot in all good consc What a good, enjoyable and emotional book to cuddle up with on a wet afternoon. I cannot in all good conscience use the term father for him. Cole is a hard man due to how he grew up under a mean and torturous man. He got out as soon as he was old enough and joined the airforce. He has come back to his ranch home to raise a younger half-brother he knew nothing about. Unfortunately, he has a bad reputation, has been in jail and is not a nice man really, using women and keeping his bad reputation going with the townsfolk.
This all gets explained later in the story and is quite a good plotline but at the beginning you are glad Maia will have nothing to do with him. Maia is a vet and also plays drums in a band, she has led a drifters life, being a vet on call, due to her abilities with animals. When a horse gets badly injured Maia goes to the ranch with him and this is when the story gets very interesting.
I have had few experiences with Christine Feehan's writing myself. As the story unfolds and more is brought to light concerning the severity of the abuse the brothers suffered, I feel it is a tad overly dramatic. It started out great, with a sexy and very alpha, tortured hero. I just don't care that much! Trouble on the ranch bri A lady Veterinarian with a touch of Dr. A great little read at this time of year and as usual Ms Feehan delivers something magical! This is a wonderful story that blooms before readers' eyes.
Maia is able to understand what has happened on the ranch and to Jase due to her ability and affinity to understand what animals are telling her. Her interaction with the animals and how she treated Jase was wonderful. Maia starts to see another side to Cole and they slowly grow closer over the time they are snowed in. I just loved this story and these three great characters. I know I have read this book many years before but I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
Mar 17, Meghan rated it really liked it. I thought the writing about abuse and how it impacts people was very well down and showed the lasting effects if can have. The suspense in the story was great and I loved how each detail emerged so naturally but at a crucial point. Quite a few details I did not see coming, but I enjoyed learning about them individually as how they played a role in unraveling The Who done it component to this story.
Jul 26, Patience Godwin rated it really liked it. I am an old fan of Christine Feehan's, have been for years. I have read all of her books so far, but her single titles are always soooo thrilling! I feel in love with every single one, and this one is no different! Just enough romance and action with a but of erotic moments to make this book a bundle of relaxation! A great book to cozy up with on a rainy day!

I love the interaction between the brothers. It's very heartwarming and relatable.
Oct 22, Vikki Vaught rated it really liked it Shelves: I have read Ms. While this story is vastly different from that series, I thoroughly enjoyed Rocky Mountain Miracle. Cole did not even know he had a brother until after the sadistic father dies. Both are wary of each other as they struggle to get to know one another. One thing they find they do have in common is the hatred of anything to do with Christmas.
Their father was particularly brutal at that time of year. Even though they were not aware of each other, their experiences with their father were the very much the same. A cloud hangs over Cole with whisper and innuendoes following him everywhere he goes. At a diner in town, several men blatantly talk about him, not even bothering to lower their voices.
An attraction stronger than a cold winter blast hits him, and he has to have this woman. He quickly finds out Maia is not interested in a one night stand, which is all he thinks he wants, no matter how drawn he is to her. Every night, he watches her, trying to get her attention, but Maia keeps her distance, telling him to pick one of the much more willing women vying for his attention.
The rest of the story has them fighting their growing attraction for each other as unexplained accidents keep happening. This is where the story line starts to lose a bit of its credibility in my estimation. The mystery and intrigue, while interesting, does not seem believable. I will not give any details, but I questioned the motive given for the villain in this tale. As the story unfolds and more is brought to light concerning the severity of the abuse the brothers suffered, I feel it is a tad overly dramatic.
The romance between Maia and Cole develops slowly at first, as they fight the huge sexual attraction they have for each other. But then, in a matter of a few days, they fall madly in love. I do realize this is a novella, and the author could not give them much time to find their HEA. However, for me, it would have been a bit more acceptable if in the back story, they had known each other during the five months Cole has been back.
Nonetheless, even though I had a few issues with the story, I did enjoy it. The pacing is good and the story kept my interest. I thoroughly enjoyed the epilogue for it strengthens the love story by showing the couple several years later, and how their love has grown and become even stronger. I always enjoy epilogues because they usually tie up any last issues, or set up things for the next book in a series. If you are looking for a story of overcoming difficulties and moving beyond the pain of abuse to find a very satisfying HEA, and a nice sprinkling in of paranormal elements, which Ms.
