She does her job very well. She had been working at a large hotel but was forced to leave after she was accused of trying to force a relationship with a married owner. Grant Goodman was a very tall, good looking, sexy man who came to Heath House. He made a comment to Briony about knowing about her past and wanting her to become his mistress. She threatened to slug him instead. He remained persistent and finally told her he was the new owner of Heath House and therefore her boss. Again, Briony was right back where she started from. Being forced into a relationship she did not want.
Grant changed the request to lover instead of mistress for the time being. Also guaranteed her job would not be at risk.
Briony felt a strong attraction for him. There was magic between them but also a lot of misunderstanding and quick temperament. Grant had had a marriage where his wife used her body as a reward or withheld it as punishment during their marriage. He was now divorced with two children and a lot of bitterness towards women who used their bodies to get wealth. Because of Briony's past, he felt she was this same type of woman. He was attracted to her and if he could get her to agree to be his mistress, he could 'reward' her as he saw fit and not be under her control at all.
But first he had to test her by offering her material possessions to see if that was what she was after. Description on the back cover: Single and determined to stay that way He may be the most eligible bachelor March has ever met, but he's also the most lethal!

This was a really good follow up to "His Cinderella Mistress". I really enjoyed this book.
March Calendar really grabbed my attention. She is a determined and very outspoken woman who knows exactly what she wants. And as for Will Davenport, not only is he handsome and charming, he is also determined to get what he wants. When I was reading this book I felt like that the characters came alive. I didn't want to put the book down and when I did all I could think about was picking it back up again.
This is a really interesting and fun read. I would highly recommend this book.

They were both also excellent books. I found the heroine petulant and unlikeable. The hero was fine, but my dislike of her made the romance blah for me. Her stories always follow the sweet path, with lots of emotion but little sex and none of that explicit.
