Rob Westerfield has always insisted that he was innocent of the murder but Ellie is set to prove him wrong.
She puts up a website with the evidence that she uncovers which puts her own life in danger. Jul 08, Rhiannon rated it liked it. All around, I enjoyed reading Daddy's Little Girl. I liked the simple way it was written and so it was easy to visualize the events. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the main character, Ellie.
I found her to be obsessive and frankly just plain rude and careless at parts. But other than that, the book itself was quite good. Feb 02, Ceci rated it it was amazing Recommends it for: Anyone who loves suspence and has the time to read this book through until the end without stopping.

A very descriptive story, she again proves why she is the "Queen of Suspence". A very thrilling story that keeps you hooked and wanting more. Mar 03, Jackie rated it really liked it.

Not my usual pick of genre, but it was a fun change of pace. A suspenseful quick read. Mary Higgins Clark is a phenomenal author who was born December 24, and she is now 83 years old. She studied at Fordham university and has won many awards for her books. This novel is one of my favourites of Mary's collection. It is an amazing thriller that has so much suspense. Whenever I pick up this book I know I will be up for a long night of reading because this book is impossible to put d 'Daddy's Little Girl' by Mary Higgins Clark is a fabulous story filled with mystery and suspense.
Whenever I pick up this book I know I will be up for a long night of reading because this book is impossible to put down. I just had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next. The end of each chapter was always a cliff hanger. When I opened this book for the first time I had no idea where the story was going to lead to.
This story has left me with a new mind, a new opinion and the craving for another one of these books. In my opinion this book is aimed for teenagers and adults. My mum and I have both read and loved this book. I could see that if a child were to read this book they might get quite confused and have trouble following the story and the characters.
The main character, Ellie, takes the audience on a fearful and surprising journey where each event is a shock. I read along as Ellie fought to get the murderer of her sister back in jail. Each page was filled with suspense and I was nervous as Ellie put herself in serious danger and faced many near death experiences. Losing all of her family at a young age has put her in a tough position.
She was young and confused but as the story progresses she finds her true family once again. Ellie always felt blamed for the death of her sister and then the cause for her family to fall apart. After Ellie's sister Andrea dies, her happy and cheerful parents have never been the same.
Her mother eventually died of a broken heart after splitting up with Ellie's dad. Ellie and her father never kept in touch but something or someone seemed to bring them back together as Ellie investigated evidence of Rob Westerfeild, the boyfriend and murderer of Andrea. Rob Westerfeild was doing all that he could to get rid of Ellie and prove that what he said was true. What Ellie didn't know but soon found out was that the murder of Ellie was not his only crime.
This novel is a mystery and thriller with themes of murder, love, family, suffering, tragedy, death and loss. The themes of love and family are portrayed well throughout this story. They relate to the the extreme care and admiration Ellie had for her sister and her parents. Loss is related to her losing her sister, her mother, her father and in some way a part of herself.
It was a very depressing and tragic time for Ellie and her parents' life when they experienced the loss of Andrea. This event traumatised Ellie and she could never forget it. Ellie is a very brave character who shows a lot of independence. She was a trustworthy person and showed great love and compassion for her family.
The antagonist in the story was Rob Westerfeild. He was a very horrible person and his character shows a lot of bad qualities. He was a liar and a murderer who showed a different type of character to those around him. He wanted to be able to get away with his terrible crimes and still have people see him as an innocent person. Mary Higgins Clark wrote this story very well and went into great depth to give the readers a really good idea of the characters and themes.
It gives a good setting for us to imagine everything that she describes clearly. It is written in first person and is read from Ellie's point of view. This way I was truly able to understand and learn all of Ellie's thoughts about her personality, fears and loves. I seriously recommend this book to other teens and adults as it is an interesting yet quick read. It is not too easy to read but it is not too difficult either. A truly amazing story that is action packed and mysterious. Even so, it was still able to send a message. Life is short, so don't waste it.
Family comes first, protect them like they would protect you. Sep 22, Julie Hodgson rated it it was amazing. Read this while in my new book shop, which of course is full of books.. Was intrigued with Ellie and her journey to find justice for the brutal murder of her sister. I do love MHC books.
A friend of mine recommended this book. It had a synopsis that sounded interesting: The heroine, Ellie, was only 7 years old when she discovered the dead body of her year-old sister. There was a handful of suspects, one of whom was convicted and imprisoned despite his steadfast denial of guilt. New evidences were unearthed It was mind-numbingly du A friend of mine recommended this book. It was mind-numbingly dull.
It was disjointed and awkward to read. Aka the biggest problem I have with this book. For example, excessive usage of the word Ellie. She's not a snitch. Ellie was sure that last night Andrea had left Joan's house early because she was planning to meet Rob Westerfield. Ellie had heard her when she talked to him on the phone [ Daddy was standing at the stove.
He was holding a cup of coffee. Saint Ignatius of Loyola said, "Give us the child until he is seven years old, and I will show you the man. I stood there, quiet as a mouse, watching the father I worshiped , sobbing and hugging my dead sister's picture against his chest, while the fragile sounds from that music box drifted around him. I look back and wonder if it ever occurred to me to run to him, throw my arms around him, absorb his grief and let his mingle with mine. But the fact is, even then I understood that his grief was unique and that no matter what I did, I could never really ease his pain.
It is so mundane. And let me repeat this part: Mommy was crying again Save my soul. The whole book is full of paragraphs that are kindred spirits to this one above. The Plot You know those books that you find difficult to read because the writing is so monotonous and grating on the nerves, and the plot not brilliant enough to make up for it?
Yup this is one of those.
There were a few things that I did not like about this novel, however I did appreciate the nuances within the plot, all those little details that suddenly came together were masterful. So here I go with the negatives: Ellie was far too dismissive, short-sighted and judgemental for me to champion at all. A single mother desperate to find love again, and to provide a stable home for her daughter, realizes too late that she has invited something evil into her home and it is hungry for their souls.
When Tom Anderson is visited by a deceased high school friend in a dream, she gives him only one warning. Jesus is always willing to lend a hand to those in need, but there are others In a time when stranger danger is ever present, a single father learns that it's the ones you trust most who have to be watched the closest.
When going into this movie you need to keep in mind it is a low budget Australian independent film. The fact it's Australian is important as low budget American films are usually between 5 - 10 million whereas that's a big budget for an Aussie film. This movie cost less then dollars to make so you aren't going to get A grade acting. I enjoyed watching this film. Yes the acting was cringeworthy at times but, as a father of young kids, I could relate to what was going through the father's head and it was thought-provoking for myself and my wife as we discussed how far we would go and how we would react in that situation.
Takes them 30min-hour to get to mine that's if their order at Waffle House or fill in choice word is finished on time! Craig Robinson as Byron. Audible Download Audio Books. Ships from and sold by Amazon. George Bryant II as Judge 3. Even in her segments with Pete it was all business and 'straight-talking' and no personality or romance. I have the hard-cover.
Considering some of the overblown ratings for some really bad big budget movies on this site, I would recommend you give this one a go especially if you are a parent. Start your free trial. Anyway y'all can pretty much guess how it ends and for the short bus riders I'm not gonna say anything to spoil it too late! It's always got a lesson to be learned from it and IMO the lesson is that no matter how bad life gets, if you just don't quit and keep your chin up and keep going, don't let people try and bring you you down because they are waiting for you and will do everything they can to bring you down or backwards but you must not let ANYONE!
You keep going and eventually everything will work itself out. It's the real truth too because I'm disabled and I speak on it because it's happening to me. I keep the bad out of my life and mind and my health improved! You always hear about the deadbeat dads who never do what they're suppose to raising their kids but you never ever hear about the deadbeat mothers who don't or the ones who will do anything in their power to keep the kids from the men who actually want their kids and want to do right but won't allow the man to be with them and do so simply out of spite.
Liked it very much.
Yes we all go through trail tribulations and anger but when a men loves his children more than the obstacles and can solve both area my hat goes off to father of a bad situation turning it around so it's a learning moment but they did try to break him but he prevail in the end Good plot. A great film by Tyler. I watched this any way and I'm not good when it comes to she children abused and mistreated. Although again Tyler is trying to teach us that these things are not fiction, this happens to children today more than ever.
When a single father is trying his best to raise 3 girls the best he knows how, knowing that their mother is all about herself. Not a living example to her children. Great cast supper story. But as the word of God says weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning. Great work Tyler keep teaching us what is happening to our children until I hope soon we will wake up and put an end to this madness. I like the movie, because it sheds a different perspective on what good fathers go through when they are the more responsible and loving single parent.
Idris Elba was excellent playing that role because he showed his vulnerability at the right time, the goodness and love he posessed for his daughters, and yet the human inperfect side of himself that still made mistakes in being a single father. Gabrielle Union and Tasha Smith were too totally different characters, but both played their parts well in demonstrating frustration men can have as well, when dealing with vindictiveness, greed, and cruelty from Tasha, but have to trust and know that there are wonderful women that have that love, patience, and kindness that we as women want as well and are willing to give if you except it from us.
The other supporting cast such as Lou Gossett Jr, Melinda Williams, Cassie Davis, The girls grandmother, Tashas crooked boyfriend, and others were excellent in their roles and really helped to enhance the heart, soul, and realness of the movie. One person found this helpful. I loved this movie! I've seen it before but it had been a long time. The girls were cute. I like Gabrielle Union and love Idris Elba. I really like this story. I loved some characters and hated others; a good sign of a good flick. See all reviews. See all customer images. Most recent customer reviews.
