LEARN to SWIM & FLOAT for BEGINNERS (easy tutorial)

This class is designed for the beginner to intermediate swimmer. We will teach you simple safety skills starting with floats and glides, and work up to a beginner stroke on the front and back. Or, if you are already a swimmer and want to improve your current swimming strokes, we can challenge you where you are and assist in reaching your personal goals. Do you want to save lives?

Regular Fall Session – Registration Opens Aug 20 (Members) & Aug 23 (For All)

Through video, discussion and hands on practice, you will learn the essential skills to become a certified lifeguard through the American Red Cross. Participants must be at least 15 years old before the final scheduled session proof required , able to swim yards non-stop with rotary breathing using freestyle and breaststroke, able to tread water for two minutes, dive approximately 10 feet down to retrieve a brick and swim 20 yards with both hands on the brick.

Successful completion of Tiger Barb or Dolphins required before enrolling in this class.

Kids & Teens Swim & Aquatics

This level is for children who are comfortable with their side breathing to the preferred side, and are working on their freestyle progression with side breathing to the non-preferred side. This is a pre-swim team class where the goals are to prepare the swimmers for participation on a swim team. To swim yard freestyle no fins with flip turns. To swim yard backstroke no fins with flip turns.

To Swim 50 yards butterfly and breaststroke no fins with correct breathing. The required list of 8 drills.

Swim School

The correct use of a pace clock. To develop a correct start from a sit-down dive for each of the four strokes. The correct turns for all four strokes. Successful completion of Stingrays is required to enroll in this class. For beginner swimmers who wish to improve their swimming skills. Swimmers will learn to: Develop a high comfort level in and especially under the water. Master a prone float, swim a short distance in a relaxed state and to return to a standing position unassisted.

Develop a relaxed back position. Master the ability to prone float, turn over to back float, then return to prone float position. Intermediate skills can be taught to swimmers that have progressed through the beginner level skills.

Swim Lesson Level B—Frogs 3 to 5 Years For children who are comfortable in the water and are now ready to learn the basics of freestyle, backstroke and streamlining, in which children learn the proper basic body position for all strokes.

Swim Lesson Level C—Guppies 3 to 5 Years For children who are able to swim free and backstrokes over a short distance and are now ready to learn freestyle side breathing preferred side breathing , in which children learn to start breathing to the side while swimming. Swim Lesson Level D—Tiger Barbs 3 to 5 Years For children who know the backstroke and freestyle with side breathing to the preferred side, and are now ready to learn freestyle side breathing to the non-preferred side, butterfly and breaststroke kicks.

Swim Lesson Level 5—Stingrays 6 to 12 Years For children who are comfortable with their side breathing to the preferred side, and are working on their freestyle progression with side breathing to the non-preferred side. Swim Lesson Intensive—Stingrays A minute lesson every day, Monday—Thursday, which is the equivalent of half a session of swimming in one week!
