Belieber!: Fame, Faith and the Heart of Justin Bieber

And it would seem that at the intersection of doing good, being light and working for justice and grace in the world, Justin and Scooter are soul mates. Charity is one of the ways Justin Bieber is sharing his story with the world.

Belieber! : fame, faith, and the heart of Justin Bieber

It's the way he's preaching the Gospel without words. And his fans are listening. But celebrity is currency and we want to spend it this way. I'll lift high the cup of salvation -- a toast to God! A half-dozen years ago, while backpacking around the world during his junior year at Rhode Island's Brown University, [Justin's manager] Scooter Braun's younger brother, Adam Braun, had a chance encounter that changed his life -- and eventually the lives of scores of children in the developing world -- forever.

While traveling through India, Adam met a young boy begging for money on the street. As was his custom when approached by "street kids" in many of the desperately poor regions of the world his round-the-world journey led him to, Adam asked the boy what he wanted more than anything else. He had asked the question many times before and figured the young Indian's answer would be similar to what he'd heard in the past.

A cell phone or an X-Box, perhaps? Or maybe a sports car or a mansion or a million dollars? The boy's surprising answer was what Oprah Winfrey might call an "Aha! Adam reached into his backpack, handed the child a pencil, and "watched as a wave of possibility washed over him," he recalled.

For the next five years, as he finished his studies at Brown, graduated in and launched a lucrative career at a top New York City consulting firm, Adam continued to "backpack relentlessly" across the globe, visiting 50 countries on six continents, handing out pencils and pens to children wherever he went. In a remote Guatemalan village, Adam met a father who asked him to read his Bible in English into a tape recorder.

That encounter struck a chord deep in Adam's heart, reminding him of his own grandparents -- Jewish refugees from Europe who came to America after surviving the Holocaust. Back in the States, Adam decided he needed to find a substantial way to give back, following his parents' example of "paying it forward" in the world by helping others in need. In October , just before his 25th birthday, Adam opened a bank account in his hometown of Greenwich, Conn.

The following year, he took a nine-month leave of absence from his consulting job to open Pencils of Promise's first school in Pha Theung, Laos, and shortly thereafter, quit his job at the consulting firm so he could focus entirely on PoP. About the same time Adam was launching the PoP charity, his older brother, Scooter, was launching the career of his latest musical discovery, year-old Justin Bieber. In fact, Justin was one of PoP's earliest supporters, Adam says, long before the teen singing sensation was, well, a sensation. When Adam was contemplating leaving corporate America for his heart's work among the poorest of the poor three years ago, Justin told him it was the right thing to do.

An estimated 75 million children worldwide have no access to education. And 98 percent of all illiterate people live in the developing world. Access to education doesn't just make people smarter, it makes them healthier and their communities more stable and prosperous. For instance, in the developing world, a child born to a mother who has had even the most basic education -- in other words, she can read and write and has some basic math skills -- is 40 percent more likely to live past the age of five.

Making education accessible to the poorest among us will make the world a healthier, more just and more peaceful place for all of us. As of July 1, , Pencils of Promise had built forty schools for children in Laos, Nicaragua and Guatemala and was well on its way to reaching Adam's goal of building new schools by Justin is one of PoP's biggest supporters. In mid-April , he helped launch a special fundraising campaign that he and Adam dreamed up during a vacation together in Africa with a single tweet:. The Schools4All campaign challenged people -- friends, families, community groups, classmates -- to get together to raise money for Pencils of Promise, with the biggest fundraiser winning a visit from Adam and Justin to their school.

Justin and Adam shot a video together and Justin continued to tweet about the campaign -- more than two dozen times -- to rally the troops in the Bieber Nation. He's part of Pencils of Promise because he believes in creating good. And those were just two concerts out of more than a hundred he played in and As a 70 year old grandfather, I am probably one of Justin Bieber's oldest fans. My granddaughter recently gave me a Bieber tooth brush. I am fascinated by this talented kid and end up reading or seeing everything related to Justin - I loved "Never Say Never.

Yet this book, "Belieber: Fame, Faith, and the Heart of Justin Bieber" is really a well researched, well written, and from what I can tell accurate telling of the spiritual side of Justin Bieber. It helps explain the singer's more than occasional thanking of God, his intense charity work, and actually his goodness as a person.

Justin is one of those rare individuals who actually practices what he preaches. He is genuine to the core and very human - he makes mistakes and is quick to apologize and even uses his mistakes as a gentle lesson to his young followers. My favorite example of this is his famously giving the finger to a bunch of relentless paparazzi. Both his flipping the bird and his subsequent apology were completely real and his using the incident to talk about the dangers of acting in anger, pure genius.

This book gives you a clear feel for the origins of all this, his mother's journey, and how Justin has come to be surrounded by the incredible people that comprise Team Bieber. It is well worth reading.

Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. I am a newly founded belieber. I have done much research about justin and this book is great. It adds an additional touch to how amazing justin is. For being so young he is an amazing young man and someone that young people and old should look to for how to love the world.

He is someone I absolutely believe is a good influence. I pray that he will continue on with his career and be able to make a difference with his music. Thank you for writing such an inspirational book about an amazing, very talented and devoted Christian. Justin inspires me to do more. One person found this helpful. I don't usually read non-fiction, but Belieber! It will probably not cover a lot of information that fans of Justin Bieber don't already know, as much of it is sourced from Justin's own autobiography, the movie, other interviews, his Facebook posts and his Tweets.

However, for those of us who don't know every minute detail of the background and superstar life of this teen singing wonder, this book provides an interesting read with the added benefit of placing Justin's upbringing and actions in a clear Christian context. It also answers one of my questions - is this guy really a Christian? Bieber is quoted as saying "I'm a Christian. I believe in God. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins I have a relationship with him I remember when Aaron Carter came out and I was in love with him - it was especially awesome that I was exactly six months older than him lol and he was what I thought was hot and I had posters of him all over my Is your daughter a fan of the teen bopper singer Justin Bieber?

I remember when Aaron Carter came out and I was in love with him - it was especially awesome that I was exactly six months older than him lol and he was what I thought was hot and I had posters of him all over my wall. For those young girls in today's time , the pop sensation thats adorning walls is none other than Justin Bieber - will he fade out over time after producing a handful of popular number 1 songs and a sell-out concert or will he be one of those few talented singers that make it all the way through the charts?

Editorial Reviews

I don't know how many of you out there realised that Justin Bieber is in fact a Christian and worships God , Belieber takes us through the heart of not only Justin Bieber's life , his road to fame but also the stron and unwavering faith and commitment he has to the Lord. Many of our hit singers have a strong faith connection and though it may not appear like it to those outside - a walk with the lord.

For parents, that are wanting to not only reach their teens but put a godly input into their lives, Belieber is an amazing book to share with them as it can point them towards the fact that God is Awesome and if he can put his work into these singers like Justin Bieber , imagine the difference that he can make in your life - God that is , not Justin Bieber. Something that really stood out to me was the way they described Justin Bieber's life and it shows that with God all things are possible and life can be like a Fairy Tale.

Take the story of Cinderella. Cross it with Harry Potter. The Perfect book and present for all those fans of Justin Bieber and all profits from the book go to the Charity "Pay It forward Sep 18, Iola rated it liked it Shelves: It also answers one of my questions — is this guy really a Christian? I believe in God. Although Falsani was not able to interview Justin Bieber personally, nor any member of his close team of supporters, she has researched him thoroughly, including reading each of his thousands of Twitter and Facebook posts. Bieber is a true child of the age of social networking, and tweets several times a day, unless his mother has confiscated his phone and laptop for bad behaviour!.

A true Belieber will no doubt need a copy in order to complete their collection of Bieber-nalia. However, I think the book is really intended for the rest of us — parents and friends of Beliebers, in order to help us understand what all the fuss is about, and to find out whether Bieber is worthy of the adoration our tweens and teens give him.

Thanks to Worthy Publishing and NetGalley for providing a review copy. I love this book so much. No words are capable of describing how much I enjoyed reading this book. I like how it shows his mom's background too, instead of just his, and her relationship withGod, because i know that her faith then definitely affected Justin's faith now.

The book is very well written, and doesn't include anything that Beliebers would already know, but Cathleen would once in a while describe parts of Justin's story in her own words, to make it fit with the rest of the book.
