Deutschland ein Wintermärchen to go (Heine in 9,5 Minuten)

Klug, gewitzt und mit spitzem Sarkasmus. Danke, dass ich mitreisen durfte. Feb 10, Piet Michael rated it really liked it Shelves: Sep 05, Ana Enriques rated it liked it. So far, I was only acquainted with some of my sisters favourite, shorter poems by Heine, mostly about love. Although this is very different, it is also very much the same.

Deutschland, ein Wintermärchen

No matter if writing about love or politics even though, this is also about love, the love for the home country , Heine never fails to deliver clear and with wit. Even though a lot of the references will be lost to todays reader, the feelings he conveys and the situation he describes are clear. The verse-form he delivers it i So far, I was only acquainted with some of my sisters favourite, shorter poems by Heine, mostly about love.

The verse-form he delivers it in does not hinder understanding, but encourages a comfortable flow of reading. Even if not all witty remarks will be understood by a modern reader, there are always some which are clear. I think Heine had a knack of finding the balance between witty criticism and the heartfelt truth. Although the situation has changed so much, this book certainly hit me right at the heart.

Having lived and soon living again abroad, I can only understand t00 good, how one can criticise the home country harshly, but missing and loving it all the same. I think it is a wonderful work. It does help if one knows at least a bit about the political background of the time, so that a bit more of the text and references can be followed and understood. Heine's Winter Tale is a very clever piece - it's perfect if you love picking out all the hidden messages, meanings and links.

There's just so much to find! Unfortunately, poems and satires are not my cup of tea. I can appreciate its artistic and historical value, but I can't appreciate it as just a story. It was hard to concentrate on the 'story' when there was so much going on in every line - you'd always need to stop reading and figure out what it actually means. I generally can't read poems Heine's Winter Tale is a very clever piece - it's perfect if you love picking out all the hidden messages, meanings and links.

I generally can't read poems well, they just always seem to escape me.

Of course, I understand that this was not written with the intention of it being an entertaining story - it had particular purposes. I doubt I will ever read this one again - although, who knows?

Sehr viel Patriotismus in einem Werk Feb 05, B. Jan 31, Harold Rhenisch rated it it was amazing Shelves: All these 18 decades have past and this work is still fresh and new.

It continues to inspire, aesthetically and politically. Passt oftmals leider noch allzu gut in die heutige Zeit. Dec 15, Benian Mutlu rated it really liked it. Heinrich Heine uses the beauty of the German language and he uses it elegantly even adding more beauty to it. Some of his poems are so authentic that I can imagine the sound of the harp or the conversation between him and his mother that ended in a note which proves the ideological difference and partly an alienation from eachother. He does all this with the use of a a few verses, that are very compressed regarding the content.

His critique is not that subtle as he didn't have to fear censorship Heinrich Heine uses the beauty of the German language and he uses it elegantly even adding more beauty to it. His critique is not that subtle as he didn't have to fear censorship in Paris. This freedom resulted in the most cynical or ironical text-tones that the era of Romanticism may have ever witnessed and his irony is what made Heine so modern for me and therefore still relatable. The only thing that bugged me was his self-portrait as he appeared to be a bit of a narcisst.
